It’s a sad day in the world of children’s literature with the death of author/illustrator Maurice Sendak at age 83. Sendak is best known as the author of the classics Where the Wild Things are (the 1964 Caldecott Medal winner) and In the Night Kitchen.
As sad as it is to lose such a pioneer, it is fortunate that we have the beauty of his art to help us navigate childhood. His work is a celebration of life and imagination that has proven it’s power for more than 50 years. So tonight, in honor of Maurice Sendak, at our house we will be having a wild rumpus!
